The Future Made By Us: Workshop Series
You’ve made your wish for the future. What comes next? You might already be making change or thinking about how to help your community – and you know there’s a long road ahead for creating and sustaining the nation you want to live in. Made By Us can help you get there, putting history in your hands to shape the future. We invite you to join this virtual workshop series: tapping into our own power to shape the future requires us to zoom out to see the bigger context across history and our present systems, as well as zoom in to get real about what we’re willing to take on. In each session, we’ll share a different technique that futurists and innovators use to connect vision to action.
Discussion on Techno-Racism and Human Rights with the UN Special Rapporteur on Racism.
The Digital Welfare State and Human Rights Project, based at the Center for Human Rights and Global Justice at NYU Law, presents an event together with the Special Rapporteur about her recent report to the UN Human Rights Council on racial discrimination and emerging digital technologies. This event and report come at a moment of international crises, including a global wave of protests and human rights activism against police brutality and system racism after the killing of George Floyd and a pandemic which, among many other tragic impacts, has laid bare how deeply embedded inequality, racism, xenophobia and intolerance are in our societies.
Futurist Writers’ Room: 20 Decades of 2020
Join the Futurist Writers' Room for a series of online gatherings to "imagine the past and remember the future." Co-creating speculative histories and futures is a powerful way to better understand our role in the present. A discourse has emerged during this pandemic about how to “get back to normal.” But do we really want to get back to normal? Do we want a reset to the former status quo? Or do we want to imagine new normals in which cultural, economic and political systems are designed for greater levels of trust, justice, inclusion, equity, beauty, and balance with the earth? The Futurist Writers' Room will take attendees into possible futures through the power of collective imagination and ask them to co-create a new reality.
